 Mark Gerner of PWCoffshore.com and Shawn AlladioAt 47 years of age, it is an honor to be invited onto a race team! When most sports kick age to the side, in offshore racing, age becomes the anchor or experience. PWCoffshore.com gave me such an opportunity, it took me about 2 seconds to say 'yes'. Not that I had to think much of it, since my passion IS endurance racing and always HAS been foremost! This is the first time in my career I have seen a dedicated team specific to offshore or endurance riding or racing! And I've been around a long time! It started here in Southern California with the local riders who have set the pace for transits from Long Beach and Dana Point to the island of Catalina and back for many years. These men have more collective experience and are the ones to learn from, ask me how I know? The jewel of the Pacific races is called the LB2CAT. Long Beach to Catalin and Back for short. Thanks to Mark Gerner for his vision to collect the offshore afficianados and create the PWCoffshore team theme! Mark is our team leader and he's singlehandledly raised the bar for this type of riding. I personally would like to invite and challenge women to get involved in these events. There is truly nothing more rewarding to put yourself on a steady course and stay the distance. Gender is not an obstacle, but an asset.
